For the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Nevada Northern Railway Museum is committed to renumbering and repainting our EMD SD-9 Locomotive 204 to become Locomotive 250 in a paint scheme that commemorates the 250th anniversary. And we asking for your help!

NNRY Paint Scheme Contest
The Nevada Northern Railway Museum is sponsoring a contest to develop our 250th anniversary paint
scheme. We are inviting the public to enter submissions of their design for the 250th anniversary paint
scheme. To encourage the public to submit designs, we are sponsoring a contest.
The winner of the
contest will have their design painted on Locomotive 250. Additionally, the winner will have the
opportunity to operate Locomotive 250 on the Nevada Northern Railway in their paint scheme after it
has been repainted.
Who May Enter?
Eligibility: The contest is open to everyone. Up to five (5) entries, per submission, per individual. There is no cost to enter the contest.
How to Enter?
- Download and Fill out the Contest Entry Form
- Download The Paint Scheme Templates
- Design your paint scheme and create an electronic copy of the Paint Scheme with the Entrant’s Name and number as the title, such as John Smith 1.
- Submit your design and the filled out form through the form below or submit it directly to [email protected].
Contest Prizes
NNRY will award two main prizes and four additional prizes for the runners-up.
1st Place Winner
- $500 cash prize
- Chance to operate Locomotive 250 as the engineer on a 14-miles round trip.
Grand Prize Winner
- $1,000 cash prize
- Chance to operate Locomotive 250 with a train as the engineer on a 14-miles round trip.
Four (4) Runners-Up
- $250 cash prize
- Chance to ride in the cab of Locomotive 250 on a 14-miles round trip.
