The Nevada Northern Railway is a National Historic Landmark and nonprofit museum. Most of the original Nevada Northern locomotives, rolling stock, track and buildings are being preserved as part of our ongoing mission. The track was laid over a century ago through the Great Basin of Nevada to service one of the largest copper mines on the continent. Two of the original steam locomotives that were ordered for the railroad over a century ago are still in operation today. It has been said that the Nevada Northern Railway is the best-preserved example of a standard-gauge short-line left in North America.
