Along the way we will meet a lively bunch of Santa's helpers, including Santa's elves. We will all be served hot chocolate and cookies while singing along with all of the holiday favorites that we know and love. Of course, photo-ops are plentiful along the way, so bring your camera and dress the part, if you like.  Sure, pajamas are very much in style on this family train ride

Everyone will experience that magic moment when the train arrives at the North Pole, where Santa Claus himself will join us!  Santa will board the train and personally present each child their own special gift so they can always remember the sprit of Christmas, and their Christmas train ride on Santa's Reindeer Flyer.

Santa's Elves are honored that Nevada Northern Railway's Reindeer Flyer Children's Christmas Train Ride has been voted as the "Best Special Event in Rural Nevada" by readers of Nevada Magazine.

The Polar Express - Family Christmas Story by Chris Van Allsburg.

One of the most popular children’s book about a train ride at Christmas time is The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg.  It is a story of a young boy and his sister who hear from their friends that there might not be a Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, however, the boy hears a distant whistle and sees a locomotive pull into his front yard. He boards it, and and finds that it is on a journey to the North Pole.

After he and the other children disembark, they learn that it is nearly time for Santa to begin his annual Christmas Eve journey. However, he will select one of them to receive the first gift of Christmas, which can be anything that they wish. The young boy is selected, and, after much thought, he chooses a bell from the harness of Santa's reindeer.

When he begins the trip back to his home, the boy discovers that there was a hole in his pocket, so he lost the bell. The next morning he receives an extra present: the bell with a note from Santa. His parents are disappointed because they do not hear the sweet jingle from it, and they think that it is broken. However, the boy and his sister DO hear the clear, sweet sound because of their faith.

Many years later, the sister could no longer hear the jingle, but the boy always could because he always believed in the spirit of Christmas.

We have copies of Chris Van Allsburg's The Polar Express for sale in our gift shop, which makes for a great read for your family on the trip back from Ely.  Every family will want a copy of this wonderful book to keep the spirit of Christmas alive.

We traveled 4 hours in not so nice weather to ride the Polar Express with our grandchildren ages not quite 2 and 4 years old and I am so glad we did. The grandchildren just loved it and squealed with delight! I think the songs, the staff, and of course the cookies and hot chocolate were a good warm up to actually seeing and greeting Santa. Our girls were so excited by the time Santa made it to them. They wanted him to stay with them longer. As Santa was leaving the train our girls were blowing kisses to Santa! Shocking! This was the same grandchild that screamed if she came within 20 feet of Santa last year.
I commend the staff at NNV. They do a great job and are so knowledgeable. This grandma wants to come back to check out the Museum at her own pace, and perhaps, another train ride. I love trains!!!

My first year, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and my twins loved it! This will be our 3rd year going but I did notice that every year the price seems to go higher and higher, hence the 4 stars rather than the 5. It's a fun atmosphere and being from back east, it makes Christmas feel like Christmas' I had growing up. The snow, the cold and the hot chocolate. My kids get to see and play in the snow and they love every bit of it. Might check out the one in AZ though.

We were on the November 19th, 2016, 4:30 Polar Express. It was a magical experience. The staff was excellent. They were very friendly and attentive to our two little ones. Santa was awesome! He spent time with each child talking to them and giving them both a hug before he left. My granddaughter is 5 years old and believes that the Polar Express Santa is the only real Santa that she sees each year and he is the only one she will tell what she wants for Christmas. To her, the store Santa is just Santa's helpers but the Polar Express Santa is the real thing! She left the train still believing this thanks to a wonderful Santa who took the time to sit down and talk to her! Thank you to everyone who worked on this particular Polar Express.
